Two Arrested for Blackmailing Lahore Call Center Owner at Gunpoint

Published on: October 10, 2025 1:45 PM

LAHORE – Police in Lahore have arrested two suspects accused of blackmailing and robbing a call center owner at gunpoint in Gulberg, with the help of CCTV footage, ARY News reported.

According to police, one of the suspects, Faheem, was a former employee of the victim’s call center who had recently been fired. In retaliation, Faheem and his accomplice allegedly held the owner, Tariq, at gunpoint and snatched Rs50,000 in cash.

CCTV footage showed the suspects threatening the victim, and police confirmed that they also issued death threats during the incident. A pistol was recovered from the suspects, and a case has been registered. The investigation has been handed over to the relevant police unit.

In a separate incident in Karachi, police responded to reports of harassment and illegal confinement of a female call center employee in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

Authorities said the woman was allegedly locked inside a software house, but managed to alert her family by phone. When her relatives arrived, a violent clash ensued, with the software house owners reportedly opening fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the woman was safely rescued.

Police later confirmed the arrest of eight suspects, including five armed employees, recovering two rifles and three pistols from their possession.

Six FIRs were registered under charges of harassment, wrongful confinement, aerial firing, rioting, and death threats.

According to the complaint, the victim’s father said his daughter had worked at the call center for three years and was being harassed by the branch manager, identified as Daniyal, who allegedly made inappropriate remarks and threats when confronted.
