100,000 low-income families receive interest-free home loans under 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' scheme

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has achieved a major milestone under her flagship housing initiative, “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” (My Roof, My Home), successfully providing interest-free and easy loans to 100,000 low-income families across the province.

Expressing gratitude over the achievement, CM Maryam hailed the development as a “historic breakthrough” in Pakistan’s social welfare and housing landscape. She said the project has transformed the dream of home ownership into a reality for thousands of underprivileged citizens, setting a new precedent for people-centered governance.

According to official figures, within just 10 months, loans worth Rs120 billion have been distributed among 100,835 families. Of these, 22,305 homes have been completed, while 64,190 are in the final stages of construction.

Maryam Nawaz praised the project team for surpassing the one-year target ahead of schedule, calling it a model of “dedication and efficiency.” She said empowering the poor with home ownership is a “great blessing of Allah” and credited her father, Nawaz Sharif, for his enduring vision of prioritizing the welfare of the poor.

Reaffirming her government’s commitment, she announced an ambitious goal of constructing 500,000 houses in five years under the same initiative.

“For the first time, ordinary citizens feel that the state cares for them like a mother — committed to their welfare, dignity, and comfort,” she said.
