LAHORE – Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry criticized the current Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership, claiming it has been “brought in on rent,” while reminding that the ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) was imposed during Imran Khan’s government.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, Chaudhry said the present PTI leadership travels abroad while “we appear before the courts.” He pointed out that Pakistan has recently received praise from the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, but despite this international recognition, “foreign companies are leaving the country instead of investing.”

He praised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for showing responsibility by opting for dialogue instead of confrontation, saying this approach could help reduce political tensions. Chaudhry also urged authorities to grant bail to Bushra Bibi to “cool down the political temperature.”
Referring to past events, he stated that the TLP was banned in 2021 under Imran Khan’s leadership and accused Maryam Nawaz of being involved in the NAB office stone-pelting incident, alleging that “false cases” were filed against PTI leaders.

Earlier, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) extended Chaudhry’s interim bail until November 28 in five cases related to the burning of police vehicles in Mughalpura, Zaman Park, and near Jinnah House.
