FO spokesperson: Pakistan will never negotiate with terrorists

Published on: November 14, 2025 3:59 PM

Islamabad: Pakistan will never negotiate with any terrorist group, the Foreign Office said on Friday. Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi emphasized Pakistan maintains open dialogue with legitimate Afghan governments. However, groups like TTP and BLA will not be engaged under any circumstances.

Andrabi noted that Pakistan completed the third round of talks with the Afghan Taliban administration in Istanbul on November 7. He praised mediation efforts by Qatar and Turkey, describing them as sincere. Despite talks, terrorist attacks originating from Afghan soil have increased significantly against Pakistan.

He said Pakistan has suffered civilian and military losses but exercised restraint to prevent escalation. Islamabad expected the Taliban government to take action against banned groups like TTP. Offers for cooperation in trade and humanitarian matters were made, but promises remained largely unfulfilled.

The spokesperson added that Pakistan considers TTP and BLA enemies of the state. Anyone supporting or funding them cannot be regarded as a friend of Pakistan. Pakistan remains committed to protecting its citizens and will take all necessary measures for security.

Andrabi warned that some Afghan Taliban elements avoid confrontation, but a strong, externally funded faction escalates tensions. Pakistan rejects attempts to portray terrorists as refugees. The country stands united with its armed forces to safeguard the public against threats.
