Several senior BNP leaders and supporters visited the hospital to check on her health and receive updates. Her eldest son, Tarique Rahman, based in London, appealed to the public via social media for prayers. He said that while he cannot return to Bangladesh due to circumstances beyond his control, his concern for his mother remains profound.
Zia has a permanent pacemaker and has undergone stenting for heart issues in the past. Despite her critical condition, she has vowed to campaign in the elections expected in February 2026. BNP remains a major political contender, and her participation is considered central to the party’s strategy and morale.
