Sultan Ahmed assumes charge as Motorway Police IG

Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry on Monday assumed charge as the 25th Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), pledging to further strengthen the institution and uphold its reputation for professionalism, integrity, and public service.

Chaudhry, who previously served as Additional Inspector General of Police in Punjab and has held various key positions in the Pakistan Police Service, is widely respected for his competence, exemplary performance, and commitment to ethical policing, said a press release.

Upon his arrival at the Central Police Office (CPO) Islamabad, he was presented with a guard of honour. He was introduced to officers and given a detailed briefing on various departmental matters.

The new Inspector General reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the institution, upholding high professional standards, and ensuring quality public service. He further emphasized that every possible measure will be taken for the welfare and well-being of the department’s officers and staff.

In his address, he said that leading this institution is a matter of great pride for him an organization regarded not only in Pakistan but also internationally as a symbol of honesty, professionalism, and transparency.

He added that the core values of the Motorway Police integrity, courtesy, and helpfulness are its true strength and will be upheld at all costs.

The Inspector General directed officers to ensure timely assistance to travelers on national highways, protect the lives and property of citizens, and work diligently to prevent road accidents, noting that the National Highways and Motorway Police holds a distinguished position among national institutions.

On this occasion, the Inspector General also paid tribute to the martyrs, laid floral wreaths at the Martyrs’ Monument, and offered special prayers for the elevation of their ranks.
