PM pushes for US-based doctors’ investment

Published on: December 8, 2025 4:23 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday directed the Economic Affairs Division to immediately resolve all pending issues linked to investment by Pakistani-origin doctors based in the United States. He stressed that their involvement could significantly strengthen Pakistan’s medical sector and bring advanced expertise into the country.

During a meeting with a delegation of US-based Pakistani physicians, the prime minister instructed the concerned ministry to prepare a practical and timely roadmap. He advised officials to work closely with the doctors to design a clear strategy that supports large-scale investment and long-term healthcare development.

The visiting physicians praised the prime minister’s efforts to uplift Pakistan’s health system and expressed strong interest in contributing financially and professionally. They highlighted their willingness to help improve hospital infrastructure, medical training, and patient-care facilities through targeted investment initiatives.

The delegation was led by Dr. Samir Shafi and included Dr. Jawad Shah, Dr. Tajammul Hussain, Dr. Nauman Haider, and social figure Rana Zahid Amir. Their participation reflected the growing desire among overseas Pakistanis to contribute directly to key national sectors.
