CM Sohail Afridi Leads Important KP Cabinet Meeting

Published on: December 12, 2025 8:18 AM

KP Cabinet Meeting

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will hold a major cabinet meeting today, chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. Ministers, special assistants, the chief secretary, and relevant secretaries will attend. The provincial government has issued a detailed 35-point agenda for the session.

In the meeting, the cabinet will approve a martyrs’ package for the family of Constable Muhammad Wali of Khyber Police. He was recently martyred while performing his duty. The package aims to support the family and honour his sacrifice. This approval is expected to be one of the key agenda items.

The cabinet will also consider the appointment of Javed Ali as Director of the Higher Education Academy of Research and Training in Peshawar. Officials say the appointment will help strengthen academic leadership in the province. The proposal will be presented formally for approval.

Additionally, the meeting will decide the nomination of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s representative for the governing body of the Pakistan Engineering Council. This nomination holds importance for ensuring the province has a voice in national engineering regulation. The decision could influence future development projects.

The cabinet is also set to approve a fund of Rs100 million for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Foundation. This funding aims to expand educational support programs across the province. Officials believe the financial assistance will strengthen public–private partnerships in education.

Moreover, a non-ADP scheme for clearing flood debris and restoring local waterways is part of the agenda. This step seeks to improve water flow in affected areas and reduce future flood risks. The restoration work is seen as essential for community safety.

Lastly, the cabinet will review a proposal to rename and revise the cost of a major water resources scheme. The updated plan aims to improve the project’s efficiency and financial structure. A final decision will be taken after evaluating all recommendations.
