
GWADAR: An armed gang loot millions of rupees from three private bank in Panjgur on Monday, while police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel foiled two additional bank robberies after a heavy gun battle. During the confrontation, a CTD official and a civilian were killed, and three police officers were injured.

Officials said over 50 heavily armed gand arrived in several vehicles, barged into three banks in the main bazaar, and held staff and security guards hostage before loot millions of rupees. The armed gang then attempted to raid National Bank of Pakistan and another bank, prompting a swift response from CTD and local police.

“The armed men used heavy weapons and lobbed grenades during the hour-long gunfight,” said SSP Dost Muhammad Bugti. Security forces returned fire, forcing the attackers to flee. Authorities confirmed that the suspects were linked to a banned militant organisation.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bodies and injured were shifted to Panjgur district hospital, while two seriously wounded CTD and police personnel were transferred to Karachi for treatment. Authorities launched an operation to trace the gang, but no arrests had been reported by Monday night.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti lauded the courage and professionalism of the law enforcement personnel. He paid tribute to martyred CTD constable Dura Baloch and the civilian Amanullah, highlighting their sacrifice in protecting lives and property.

The chief minister vowed that terrorists and criminal elements would face continued operations, assuring the public of their safety. He emphasised that the sacrifices of security forces in restoring peace would not go in vain and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding citizens across Balochistan.
