Terror strikes Bannu: 27 police martyred, 134 attacks recorded in 2025

Bannu Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sajjad Khan said 27 police officers were martyred in 134 terrorist attacks across the district in 2025. He provided the figures during a press briefing, detailing law and order operations against militants.

The attacks targeted police stations, posts, checkpoints, mobiles, and parties, while police carried out comprehensive retaliatory actions.

DIG Khan said 79 police personnel were injured in the attacks, while 53 terrorists were killed and 163 injured. He added that 168 intelligence-based operations resulted in the arrest of 105 terrorists and elimination of 65 others. Overall, action was taken successfully against 170 terrorists.

He said joint police and security force operations in Miryan, Haved, Daud Shah, Mamand Khel, and Domel led to one police martyr, 11 police injuries, five civilian injuries, 22 terrorists killed, and four arrested. Several terrorist hideouts and houses were demolished during these missions.

The DIG revealed that terrorists carried out 20 drone attacks targeting police and civilians, injuring 19 police personnel, killing nine civilians, and injuring 33. After installing an anti-drone system on July 18, over 300 drone attacks were thwarted and four drones neutralized.

Khan highlighted security upgrades including barriers, bunkers, bullet-proof gates, CCTV cameras, drones, anti-drone guns, sniper rifles, APCs, thermal imaging systems, and tactical gear. He reaffirmed that Bannu police will continue to fight terrorism and protect public lives and property.
