Published on: December 25, 2025 1:45 PM

The Pakistan and Oman navies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on maritime information sharing on December 24, 2025. The agreement aims to enhance mutual maritime awareness and strengthen regional security. The MoU was signed at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad by Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Rear Admiral Saif Bin Nasser Bin Mohsin Al Rahbi.

During his visit, the Omani naval chief praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Navy and acknowledged its continued role in ensuring maritime security and stability. Both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional maritime security, and bilateral naval cooperation.

The MoU establishes guidelines and procedures for sharing white shipping information between the two navies. This step is expected to improve coordination, surveillance, and situational awareness in shared maritime boundaries. Both navies maintain close ties through expert-level staff talks, training programs, and bilateral exercises.

Pakistan and Oman share geographical proximity and common maritime boundaries, which reinforce the strategic importance of their naval collaboration. Their bilateral relations also extend to economic cooperation, people-to-people contacts, and strong defense ties. Multilateral naval exercises further strengthen these professional relations.
