3 Idiots sequel? Aamir, Madhavan finally speak

Published on: December 29, 2025 11:00 PM

Sixteen years after 3 Idiots became a blockbuster, rumours about a sequel continue to excite fans. Lead actors Aamir Khan and R. Madhavan have now addressed these speculations. Both confirmed that no official discussions about a sequel have taken place yet.

R. Madhavan called the sequel idea “far-fetched” despite its appeal. He explained that he, Aamir, and Sharman Joshi are now older. Madhavan questioned whether revisiting their original characters would make creative sense. He added that while he enjoys working with director Rajkumar Hirani, he doubts the project’s practicality.

Aamir Khan echoed Madhavan’s remarks. He said he would gladly participate in a sequel but stressed no one has approached him. Khan recalled the fun they had filming 3 Idiots. He also highlighted that his character, Rancho, remains one of his most beloved roles.

Fans have long awaited a continuation of the 2009 hit film, which earned over ₹200 crore at the box office. The movie’s dialogues, characters, and educational message continue to resonate strongly with audiences. Sequel rumours often surface because of its lasting popularity and cultural impact.
