Arshad Nadeem bags Global Breakthrough award

Pakistan’s Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem won the Global Breakthrough Athlete award on Monday. The award was presented at the World Sports Summit in Dubai. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar called Nadeem “Pakistan’s pride” on X.

The summit, held on December 29-30, gathers over 1,500 athletes, sports leaders, and policymakers. Its theme is “Uniting the World Through Sport,” and it discusses the future of global athletics. Nadeem received the award during the two-day event, with footage broadcast by major news channels.

Arshad Nadeem made history in August 2024 by winning Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in javelin. He threw an impressive 92.97 meters at the Paris Games, securing the nation’s maiden Olympic medal in the sport. He has also won medals at the Commonwealth and Asian Games.

In November 2025, Nadeem claimed another gold at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His throw of 83.05 meters earned him the top spot, adding to his growing list of achievements. Officials praised his consistency, dedication, and role in promoting athletics in Pakistan.
