Pakistan Air Force conducts flight test of indigenously developed Taimoor missile

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of Pakistan’s aerospace and defence capabilities.

According to a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday, the Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) is capable of engaging enemy land and sea targets with high precision at a range of up to 600 kilometres, carrying a conventional warhead.

The missile is equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation and guidance system and is designed to fly at very low altitudes, enabling it to effectively evade hostile air and missile defence systems.

ISPR stated that the precision-strike capability of the Taimoor missile significantly enhances the conventional deterrence and operational flexibility of the Pakistan Air Force, further strengthening the country’s overall defence posture.

The successful flight test highlights the growing technical maturity, innovation, and self-reliance of Pakistan’s defence industry. The launch was witnessed by senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, along with prominent scientists and engineers who played a key role in the development of the advanced weapon system.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, congratulated the scientists, engineers, and the entire PAF team on the achievement, praising their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities.

He reaffirmed that such accomplishments reflect the nation’s resolve to achieve technological self-sufficiency and maintain a credible conventional deterrent amid an evolving regional security environment.

ISPR added that the successful test demonstrates the PAF’s continued pursuit of operational readiness, technological superiority, and national security objectives.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated the nation on the successful test, lauding the Pakistan Air Force for reaching an important milestone and describing it as a major step toward further strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities.
