ISLAMABAD: School timings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh have been revised due to persistently cold weather, officials said on Wednesday. The new schedules will take effect from January 16.

In KP, the education department announced that all primary schools in the plains will operate from 9:00am to 1:30pm. Middle, high, and higher secondary schools will function from 9:00am to 2:20pm. The decision aims to protect students from harsh winter conditions while ensuring academic activities continue without disruption.

Meanwhile, in Sindh, Education Minister Sardar Shah directed that all public and private schools open at 9:00am, while closing times remain unchanged. The revised schedule will remain in force until January 26.
The adjustments come after schools in several provinces faced challenges due to extreme cold following winter holidays. Authorities emphasized that the revised timings are temporary measures to safeguard students’ health and well-being.
In contrast, the Punjab government announced an extension of winter vacations by one week, with schools now set to reopen on January 19. Officials said this decision was aimed at providing relief to students and staff during the ongoing cold spell.
Parents and guardians have been urged to ensure that children dress warmly and take necessary precautions while traveling to schools. Authorities said school administrations will continue monitoring weather conditions and may make further adjustments if needed.
