Putin reviews US invite for Gaza peace council

Russian President Vladimir Putin has received an official invitation from the United States to join the Gaza Peace Council, marking a potential new phase of international engagement on the conflict.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Moscow is carefully reviewing the proposal, adding that Russian officials will soon contact Washington to clarify the council’s structure and objectives.

He further explained that the invitation arrived through formal diplomatic channels, and President Putin is personally considering the offer as part of Russia’s broader approach to Middle East stability.

Meanwhile, similar invitations have been extended to other leaders, including Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, highlighting Washington’s effort to build a wide international coalition.

The Gaza Peace Council is expected to begin work during the second phase of a peace plan agreed between Israel and Hamas in October 2025 after extensive international mediation.

This phase aims to support ceasefire sustainability, humanitarian coordination, and long-term political dialogue, with participation from global powers expected to shape the council’s overall influence.
