Noah’s Epstein joke triggers Trump legal threat

Published on: February 2, 2026 8:15 PM

US President Donald Trump threatened to sue comedian Trevor Noah after the Grammys host joked about Trump visiting Epstein Island. Trump called the claim “wrong” and “defamatory” and denied ever visiting the island. He also criticized the Grammys as “virtually unwatchable” and slammed CBS for airing the show.

Trump took to Truth Social to express his anger. He called Noah a “total loser” and “talentless.” Trump said he would send lawyers to sue Noah for “plenty $” and vowed to make it “fun.” He also claimed that not even the “fake news media” had accused him of visiting Epstein Island.

Trevor Noah made several jokes at Trump’s expense during the Grammys. He compared Trump’s desire for Greenland to coveting a “Song of the Year” award. Noah added that Trump wanted another island after Epstein’s island was gone. The audience gasped at the remark, highlighting the joke’s shock value.

Trump emphasized he had never been to Epstein Island and questioned how Noah could make the accusation. He pointed out that even mainstream media never reported such claims. Trump framed the joke as an attack on his reputation and stated he would defend himself legally.

The incident underscores rising tensions between celebrities and political figures. It also illustrates how comedy can provoke strong reactions from public figures. Trump’s response may fuel further debates over freedom of speech and defamation in entertainment.
