According to hospital sources, the 25-year-old woman, a resident of Abbottabad identified as ‘A’, had been brought to the hospital by her brother a day earlier due to mental health concerns. Doctors said she had reportedly consumed an excessive quantity of tranquilizers before being admitted to the LGH emergency department, where she received immediate medical treatment.

Initial reports indicate that the incident occurred shortly after her brother temporarily left the hospital ward to arrange food. Hospital staff said the woman allegedly jumped from the upper floor of the building and was rushed to the emergency ward in a critical condition.

Doctors stated that she sustained severe injuries, including fractures to the spinal vertebrae, leg and ankle, along with internal abdominal bleeding, which has significantly worsened her condition. Her health status remains critical, according to medical officials.

LGH Medical Superintendent Dr Faryad Hussain confirmed that an eight-member medical board has been formed under the supervision of Prof Dr Jodat Saleem to oversee the patient’s treatment and ensure comprehensive medical care. He said all available medical resources are being utilised to stabilise her condition.

Hospital management confirmed that the patient had been diagnosed with mental health issues and was under observation after initial treatment. Following the incident, police authorities were informed in accordance with protocol.

Dr Hussain said doctors, nurses and paramedical staff are working continuously to save the patient’s life. He added that four units of blood have been arranged, necessary diagnostic tests completed and a multidisciplinary medical team is closely monitoring her condition.

The incident has raised concerns regarding patient safety and monitoring within hospital premises, particularly for individuals undergoing treatment for mental health-related conditions.
