Israel lobbies US over F-35 deals and Iran, Gaza files

Published on: February 9, 2026 6:15 PM

Israel is lobbying in Washington to influence US decisions on Iran, the Gaza Strip, and regional military deals, including halting F-35 fighter jet sales to Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Officials held high-level meetings to discuss Gaza, Iran, and bilateral cooperation with Washington.

Israeli leaders stressed the importance of maintaining the country’s military technological edge amid talks on F-35 sales to regional countries. The issue is central to Israel’s national security and its strategic balance in the Middle East.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his desire to meet US President Donald Trump to discuss Iran negotiations. Israel is concerned that current talks may not address its priorities, including Iran’s ballistic missile program and support for regional militias.

The delegation scheduled to visit Washington on Tuesday has not yet been finalized. Israeli army officers may join the team to provide military expertise and brief US counterparts on security concerns.

Observers say Israel’s lobbying highlights rising tensions over US arms sales and diplomatic talks in the Middle East. The developments may impact regional relations, arms negotiations, and ongoing discussions on Iran and Gaza.
