Pakistan, Turkey conduct Turgutreis-XIII maritime drill

The newly commissioned Pakistan Navy ship PNS Khaibar visited Turkey’s Aksaz Naval Base and participated in joint exercises. The visit matters as it strengthens bilateral naval cooperation and regional security. The exercise and coordinated patrol directly involved Pakistan and Turkish naval forces in operational collaboration.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), PNS Khaibar, on its maiden voyage from Turkey to Pakistan, joined exercise Turgutreis-XIII. The ship operated alongside Turkish Navy vessels, including TCG Heybeliada, and a SH-70 helicopter. The activities focused on rehearsing joint maritime operations and improving interoperability.

During the base visit, PNS Khaibar’s commanding officer met the Turkish Southern Sea Area commander. Discussions emphasized enhancing strategic ties, regional stability, and long-term naval collaboration between the two countries. Turkish naval officers also toured the Pakistan Navy ship during the port stay.

The bilateral exercise included a variety of sea evolutions and concluded with a coordinated patrol in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. ISPR described the operations as a demonstration of the strong strategic partnership and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Turkey. Both navies highlighted the importance of shared maritime security objectives.

The visit also marked a milestone in PNS Khaibar’s maiden voyage, reflecting Pakistan Navy’s expanding operational reach. Officials said similar future engagements will further strengthen joint capabilities. Observers noted that such exercises boost interoperability and regional confidence in cooperative defense efforts.
