PM Shehbaz Sharif departs Austria to strengthen bilateral, trade ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left for Vienna, Austria, on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker. The trip aims to enhance Pakistan-Austria relations, boost trade and investment, and participate in global initiatives promoting sustainable development and peace.

The Pakistani delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. They will accompany the Prime Minister in high-level bilateral meetings and delegation-level discussions with Austrian leadership.

During his visit, PM Shehbaz will hold talks with Chancellor Stocker at the Federal Chancellery, focusing on expanding trade, promoting investment, and exploring joint economic projects. Both leaders are also set to co-chair a business forum with prominent industry figures to strengthen Pakistan-Austria economic cooperation.

The Prime Minister will address the Austria Business Forum, highlighting Pakistan’s investment potential, economic reforms, and opportunities for Austrian businesses. Officials expect these discussions to open new avenues for bilateral investment, increase trade volumes, and encourage private-sector collaboration between the two countries.

Additionally, PM Shehbaz will participate in a special United Nations event on “Sustainable Development, Global Peace, and Prosperity.” During the visit, he will meet the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency to discuss global nuclear safety, energy cooperation, and Pakistan’s role in promoting international peace initiatives.

Officials said the visit will further strengthen bilateral ties, boost trade and investment cooperation, and highlight Pakistan’s active engagement in global development and peace initiatives, reflecting the government’s commitment to international collaboration and sustainable growth.
