The advanced stealth fighters were seen departing from RAF Lakenheath in the United Kingdom on Tuesday morning before flying toward Israel. The base has recently served as a transit point for American military aircraft heading to the Middle East amid heightened regional tensions.
Flight tracking data and aviation observers indicated that the F-22s flew with their transponders turned off, a common operational security practice for sensitive military movements. However, aerial refueling tankers accompanying the jets had their transponders activated, allowing portions of the flight path to be monitored.

The deployment comes as the United States expands its air and naval presence in the region. In recent weeks, additional fighter aircraft and U.S. military transport planes have been tracked entering Middle Eastern airspace, reflecting what analysts describe as a significant force posture adjustment.
Officials have not publicly detailed the mission of the F-22s or the duration of their deployment. The aircraft are designed for air superiority missions but are also capable of conducting precision strikes and intelligence-gathering operations.
The move follows increased tensions related to Iran’s nuclear program and broader regional security concerns. President Donald Trump has said he is weighing options regarding Iran, though no final decision on military action has been announced.

U.S. defense officials have not indicated whether the aircraft deployment is intended as a deterrent measure, a defensive reinforcement for Israel, or preparation for potential operations.
