Rawalpindi residents are benefiting from simplified driving licence services during the holy month of Ramadan, with authorities allowing applicants to access facilities by presenting only their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).

According to the City Traffic Police (CTP), driving licence centres have remained fully operational throughout Ramadan to facilitate citizens. Officials reported that approximately 67,300 people have used the service so far this month, with more than 13,500 new driving licences issued.

Farhan Aslam said the initiative was designed to make the licensing process more accessible and citizen-friendly. He noted that licensing services are available to all Pakistani citizens who present their CNIC, eliminating unnecessary delays and encouraging compliance with traffic regulations.
Authorities also introduced additional conveniences during Ramadan, including arrangements to serve Iftar to visitors at licensing centres. Aslam described citizens as “guests of God” during the holy month and said serving them was both a responsibility and an honor for the department.
Motorcyclists, in particular, have benefited from the streamlined process, with both learner permits and permanent licences being issued on the same day in many cases. Officials said the initiative aims to encourage more riders to obtain valid licences, improving road safety and legal compliance.
The traffic police emphasized that licences are being issued strictly on merit while maintaining transparency and respect in the process. Aslam stated that holding a valid driving licence reflects a driver’s responsibility, confidence, and commitment to following traffic laws.
