Pakistan considers squad changes ahead of Bangladesh ODI series

Published on: March 3, 2026 5:45 PM

Pakistan is expected to make significant changes to its squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, scheduled from March 11 to 15, as sources suggest some players may be dropped.

Senior players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah are likely to retain their spots, ensuring continuity in Pakistan’s ODI setup while balancing experience and form in the team.

Sources indicate that Saim Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz may miss out on the Bangladesh tour, with Shamil Hussain potentially being given an opportunity to prove himself in the limited-overs format.

Despite taking the most wickets in the President’s Cup, Sufyan Muqeem has reportedly been overlooked for selection, sparking debate among cricket fans about merit and domestic performance recognition in the national setup.

Team management is expected to announce the final squad soon as preparations intensify, with coaches assessing player form, fitness, and balance to build a competitive side for the bilateral series.

With a mix of established stars and possible new faces, Pakistan aims to gain momentum in the ODI format, strengthen team cohesion, and showcase emerging talent ahead of future international fixtures.
