Iran: US-Israel aggression forced defensive action

Published on: March 4, 2026 11:47 PM

Iranian President said his country was forced to defend itself due to US and Israeli military aggression. He issued a message in Arabic to Gulf and neighboring nations, emphasizing that Iran tried to avoid war through diplomacy. Tehran respects the sovereignty of all regional states and believes peace in the Middle East is possible only through mutual cooperation.

The president stressed that Iran’s defensive actions targeted military facilities used to plan or support operations against Iran. Missile and drone strikes were carried out on US bases in the Gulf amid rising regional tensions. Tehran framed its response as a necessary measure to protect national security, not as an act of regional provocation.

Analysts note that issuing a direct message in Arabic was aimed at reassuring Gulf states and limiting potential regional escalation. Iran wants to prevent the broader conflict from spreading while signaling that it prioritizes diplomatic communication alongside defensive operations. The statement underscores Tehran’s intent to maintain dialogue despite military actions.

The announcement came as regional security remained highly tense, with heightened alert at Gulf air defense systems. US and allied forces in the region were reportedly placed on standby following Iran’s strikes, reflecting fears of further escalation in the volatile Middle East.

Iranian officials reiterated that all attacks targeted specific military installations linked to threats against Tehran. They stressed that Iran’s actions were defensive, aimed at safeguarding sovereignty, and that dialogue with neighboring countries remains central to maintaining regional stability.
