PHF president lauds national team for qualifying for Hockey World Cup

Published on: March 9, 2026 2:20 AM

President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani on Sunday paid glowing tribute to the national hockey team for their impressive performance in the World Cup Qualifiers, saying that qualifying for the mega event after an eight-year gap was a remarkable achievement.

In a statement issued here, Wani congratulated the players and team management for their outstanding efforts, adding that the achievement had revived hopes for the resurgence of Pakistan hockey on the international stage. “If the players continue to demonstrate this level of performance and commitment, the national team will soon regain its lost glory,” he said. “The federation will provide every possible support to these national heroes so they can maintain their momentum and achieve success in upcoming international events.”

The PHF president said the federation was committed to strengthening the national team by ensuring better training opportunities and facilities for the players.

He said that in line with the vision of PHF’s Chief Patron and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, all-out efforts would be made for the revival and development of the country’s national sport. “All necessary facilities will be provided to the players to ensure their effective preparation and participation in future international competitions,” he added.
