The opposition alliance Tehreek Tahaffuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan on Wednesday called on the government to involve Parliament and opposition parties in defence and national security decisions, citing the “changing regional situation” in the Middle East and tensions with Afghanistan. The demand came during a joint parliamentary meeting chaired by Mehmood Khan Achakzai at the Parliament House in Islamabad.
The TTAP resolution condemned the US-Israeli attacks on Iran as violations of international law and state sovereignty, expressing grief over the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other civilians. Participants urged Muslim countries not to allow their territories or resources to be used against other nations under external pressure, emphasizing diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful conflict resolution.

The meeting also congratulated Mojtaba Khamenei on succeeding his father as Iran’s supreme leader and expressed hope that his leadership would strengthen Iran’s internal stability, regional influence, and unity among Muslim nations. The opposition urged the government and the international community to take immediate diplomatic measures to reduce tensions and establish a ceasefire.
On Afghanistan, the TTAP resolution referenced Pakistan’s Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, launched after cross-border firing from the Afghan Taliban. Opposition parties called for restraint from both sides and urged the use of diplomatic channels while emphasizing that Afghan refugees in Pakistan should be treated in accordance with international law and dignity.

The meeting also highlighted domestic concerns, demanding the release of Imran Khan and reiterating that cases against him be dismissed through due judicial process. They raised serious concerns over his deteriorating health in Adiala jail, noting inadequate medical facilities had forced transfers to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), and suggested he be taken to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for proper care.
