Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert forecasting rain, thunderstorm and strong winds across multiple regions of the country from today through March 25.

According to the NDMA, rain accompanied by thunder and gusty winds is expected in Islamabad, as well as various parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Authorities have advised provincial and district administrations to remain on alert during the forecast period.

In Balochistan, weather conditions are expected to include dust storms, strong winds and rainfall from today until March 23. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain is also likely in parts of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad and Dadu.

Separately, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said a system of westerly winds is entering the country from tonight, which will influence weather patterns over the coming days. Under this system, widespread rain is expected across many districts of Punjab between March 18 and 20, with the possibility of hailstorms at isolated locations.

The Met Office noted that while most areas in Punjab may remain dry during the day, cities such as Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha and Mianwali could experience partly cloudy conditions in the evening and night, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds.

In Lahore, two consecutive days of rainfall are expected to bring pleasant weather, with temperatures likely to drop ahead of the upcoming Eid holidays.

However, in Karachi, hot and dry conditions are expected to persist over the next 24 hours, with temperatures ranging between 34°C and 36°C despite relatively high humidity levels.
