Meta rolls out AI commerce tools for small businesses

Meta unveiled a wide range of AI driven commerce tools updates at Shoptalk 2026, alongside launching a new initiative aimed at boosting artificial intelligence adoption among small businesses.

The company introduced enhanced product discovery features across its platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. These tools use AI to generate summarised user reviews, brand insights and tailored product recommendations when users interact with advertisements or retailer links.

The updated experience is designed to provide consumers with quick, digestible information, including AI-generated summaries of customer feedback, pricing insights and purchasing options. The goal is to streamline decision-making and improve engagement between businesses and potential customers.

In addition to discovery tools, Meta announced an upgraded in-app checkout system developed in collaboration with Stripe and PayPal. The new system allows merchants to manage transactions and fulfilment directly within the platform, reducing friction in the purchasing process.

The company also plans to expand integrations with major e-commerce and payment partners, including Adyen and Shopify. Affiliate programme partnerships will be extended to platforms such as Amazon, eBay, Temu, Mercado Libre and Shopee.

Alongside these updates, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of Meta Small Business, a company-wide initiative focused on empowering entrepreneurs through AI tools and resources. The initiative will be led by senior executives Dina Powell McCormick and Naomi Gleit.
