Two titles each for Ahtesham, Hajra at Servis Tyres Junior National Tennis Championship

LAHORE: Ahtesham Humayun of Crescent School and Hajra Sohail of SICAS claimed two titles each at the Servis Tyres Junior National Tennis Championship 2026 that concluded on a high note at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah Lahore.

In the boys’ U-18 singles final, Ahtesham Humayun displayed remarkable composure and skill to defeat Amir Mazari in straight sets, winning 6-4, 7-5. The closely contested match highlighted Ahtesham’s consistency and ability to handle pressure at crucial moments, marking him as one of the brightest prospects in junior tennis. Earlier, he, partnering Amir Mazari, clinched the U-18 doubles title, defeating M. Yahya/Ina Qadir 6-2, 6-3.

Rising talent Hajra Sohail emerged as the star of the girls’ events, securing a double title triumph. She dominated the girls’ U-18 final with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory over Bismil Zia, showcasing superior technique and control. Hajra carried her fine form into the U-14 category, where she defeated Khadija Khalil 5-4, 4-2 to complete an impressive double.

In the boys’ U-14 final, Shayan Afridi from Peshawar produced a confident performance to overcome Muhammad Aayan 4-1, 4-1, underlining his potential as a rising talent from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The boys’ under-12 category witnessed an exciting contest, with Mustafa Uzair Rana edging past Muhammad Faizan in a competitive three-set encounter, winning 4-1, 1-4, 4-2.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ U-12 final, Eman Shahbaz secured a convincing 4-1, 4-1 victory over Shahnoor Umer. In the U-10 mixed category final, Ibrahim Leghari defeated Hashir Mustafa 6-2, demonstrating impressive control and confidence for his age.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Waqar Nisar and Ahmad Khan Leghari, who attended as chief guests and distributed prizes among the winners. They lauded the participants for their dedication and emphasised the importance of grassroots development in nurturing future champions. Also present on the occasion were Rashid Malik, SEVP of PLTA, along with players, coaches, and families, creating a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere.
