Shehbaz praises Iran truce in call with Pezeshkian

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Iran’s leadership for accepting a US ceasefire proposal. The move signals a major diplomatic breakthrough and opens the door for formal negotiations. The development affects regional stability and millions impacted by rising geopolitical tensions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a 45-minute call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday. During the call, both leaders welcomed the ceasefire and agreed to pursue dialogue. The conversation remained cordial and focused on strengthening diplomatic engagement. They also confirmed plans to begin formal negotiations later this week in Islamabad.

Sharif commended Iran’s leadership for showing wisdom and restraint during a tense period. He highlighted the importance of peaceful dialogue in resolving international conflicts. Additionally, he conveyed respect for Iran’s Supreme Leader and acknowledged Tehran’s constructive response. The prime minister emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating meaningful discussions between both sides.

Meanwhile, President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its mediation efforts and diplomatic support. He expressed optimism about the upcoming negotiations and confirmed Iran’s participation. Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination as talks progress. The exchange reflects growing cooperation aimed at reducing tensions and promoting regional peace.

Separately, Pezeshkian described the ceasefire as a result of national unity and sacrifice. He stressed that unity would remain vital in both diplomacy and defence. Analysts view the Islamabad talks as a critical next step toward long-term stability. However, challenges remain as both sides prepare for complex negotiations.
