During the visit, Lavrov is scheduled to meet with Wang Yi, China’s top diplomat. The two leaders are expected to exchange views on bilateral relations, cooperation across various sectors, and pressing international concerns, including the Middle East crisis and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

According to official statements, both sides aim to align their positions on key global issues and explore ways to reduce tensions in conflict-affected regions. The discussions follow a recent phone call between Lavrov and Wang Yi earlier this month, during which they agreed to enhance cooperation in promoting stability in the Middle East.

China also hosted several leaders from countries affected by the conflict and its economic fallout. Among them were To Lam and Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reflecting Beijing’s active diplomatic engagement.

Meanwhile, Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed China’s willingness to play a constructive role in restoring peace and stability in the Gulf region during talks with the UAE leadership.

China and Russia have strengthened their economic and political partnership in recent years, particularly following Moscow’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Analysts view Lavrov’s visit as part of ongoing efforts by both nations to coordinate strategies amid shifting global dynamics and regional conflicts.
