Russia eyes deeper China partnership in 2026

Putin will visit China in first half 2026, Russian agencies reported Wednesday. Reports cited Sergei Lavrov, saying itinerary is being agreed upon. The planned visit highlights strengthening Russia-China relations amid global geopolitical tensions.

Russia and China have expanded strategic cooperation in recent years. Cooperation has grown in energy, defense, and trade sectors. The partnership has continued despite Western sanctions pressure.

Officials from Moscow and Beijing are coordinating visit preparations. Travel itinerary details remain under discussion between both governments. The schedule may include high-level bilateral summit meetings.

Analysts say the visit signals continued diplomatic alignment. It could affect discussions on sanctions, security, and trade. The timing suggests sustained engagement despite ongoing global tensions.
