Putin meets Iranian FM, backs Iran interests

St. Petersburg: Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Russia will do what it can in the interests of Iran and regional countries during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The remarks come amid ongoing regional tensions and diplomatic efforts to reduce conflict.

According to Russian media, Putin said he had received a message from Iran’s supreme leader and extended his best wishes. He expressed hope that the Iranian people would overcome current challenges and that peace would be restored in the region.

Putin also reiterated Russia’s commitment to maintaining strategic relations with Iran. He said cooperation between the two countries would continue to strengthen despite the difficult regional situation.

Iran’s foreign minister thanked Russia and President Putin for their support during the meeting. He said Tehran values its strategic partnership with Moscow and aims to further deepen bilateral ties.

The meeting took place in St. Petersburg as diplomatic activity continues across the region amid tensions between Iran and the United States. Officials view the visit as significant for ongoing regional consultations.
