Trump defends US naval blockade Iran

Published on: May 2, 2026 9:11 PM

Donald Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump said the U.S. Navy is acting “like pirates” while enforcing a naval blockade on Iranian ports. His remarks came amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran during a wider regional conflict. The comments have drawn strong international attention.

Trump made the statement while describing recent U.S. operations involving the seizure of a vessel. He said American forces had taken control of ships and cargo linked to Iranian exports. He described the operation as highly profitable and aggressive in nature.

According to reports, U.S. forces have intercepted multiple Iranian vessels leaving sanctioned ports. These include oil tankers and cargo ships operating in international waters. The actions form part of broader efforts to restrict Iran’s maritime trade.

Iran has also restricted shipping through key regional waterways, except for its own vessels. The situation has contributed to rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route. Both sides have imposed maritime restrictions during the conflict.

The ongoing confrontation has further escalated regional instability and impacted global oil markets. Analysts warn that continued disruption could affect international energy supply chains. Diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions remain limited amid the current escalation.
