According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO), both sides discussed ongoing developments in the Middle East and exchanged views on Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between concerned parties. The FO said the call took place late Sunday night.

The Iranian foreign minister reportedly appreciated Pakistan’s “constructive role and sincere mediation efforts,” acknowledging Islamabad’s continued engagement in regional peace initiatives.

During the conversation, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting diplomatic engagement and emphasized that dialogue remains the only viable path toward resolving disputes and ensuring long-term regional stability.

The discussion comes at a time when diplomatic efforts are intensifying following recent communications between Iran and the United States. Reports suggest that Washington has responded to Iran’s latest peace proposal, with Tehran reviewing the response through channels that include Pakistan.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump indicated that his representatives were engaged in what he described as “positive discussions” with Iran, expressing cautious optimism that these talks could lead to progress.

Pakistan has played a facilitative role in earlier rounds of indirect engagement between Iran and the United States, including hosting initial contacts in Islamabad. Officials say Islamabad continues to support diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and preventing further escalation in the region.

According to international reports, recent proposals under discussion include phased measures addressing maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions relief, nuclear enrichment limits, and broader regional non-aggression arrangements.

The proposed framework also envisions a gradual restoration of normal maritime activity, security assurances among regional states, and eventual dialogue on a wider Middle East security architecture.

Analysts note that Pakistan’s continued engagement highlights its positioning as a diplomatic facilitator amid complex regional dynamics involving multiple global and regional powers. No official breakthrough has been announced, but diplomatic contacts remain ongoing through various channels.
