Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a severe heatwave in different parts of the country from today until May 11, urging citizens to take precautionary measures amid rising temperatures.

According to the weather department, several districts in Sindh and Balochistan are expected to experience extremely high temperatures, with daytime highs ranging between 46°C and 50°C. The affected areas include Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Sibi, Turbat and Panjgur.
Southern Punjab and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also likely to remain under intense heat conditions. Temperatures in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Dera Ismail Khan may rise between 43°C and 47°C during the forecast period.
The Met Office further stated that upper Punjab and several cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to witness unusually hot weather. Temperatures in Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Sialkot are likely to remain between 39°C and 43°C.
Meanwhile, Karachi is expected to experience comparatively moderate conditions, although temperatures in the city may still range between 35°C and 38°C.
Weather experts and health authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak daytime hours. Citizens have also been encouraged to drink plenty of water, wear light clothing and take extra care of children, elderly individuals and people with health conditions.

Officials warned that prolonged exposure to extreme heat could increase the risk of heatstroke and dehydration, stressing the importance of following safety guidelines during the ongoing heatwave.
