Published on: May 7, 2026 8:34 PM

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss regional developments and ongoing Washington-Tehran negotiations. Both leaders stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to maintain regional stability. The call came amid rising international focus on efforts to end tensions in the Middle East.

According to Iranian media, both sides agreed on the need for continued diplomatic engagement and stronger regional cooperation. They emphasized peaceful approaches to reducing tensions and preventing further escalation. The discussion also focused on maintaining stability across the broader region.

The conversation took place as the United States awaits Iran’s response to a proposed agreement aimed at ending the ongoing conflict and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Pakistan has reportedly been involved in mediation efforts linked to the negotiations. Officials hope diplomatic progress could help ease regional instability.

Global markets have reacted closely to developments surrounding the talks. Oil prices fell after renewed optimism about a possible agreement between Washington and Tehran. Analysts believe any extension of the ceasefire could also reduce tensions in neighbouring Lebanon and other conflict zones.
