
A daycare centre has been inaugurated at Jinnah International Airport Karachi to facilitate working mothers employed at the airport, according to the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA).
The facility has been launched as part of efforts to improve workplace support systems for female staff and was formally inaugurated by the Director General of the PAA. Officials said a similar daycare centre has already been established at the authority’s headquarters, and the Karachi initiative is part of a broader plan to expand such services.

According to the PAA, the daycare centre will cater to children of all working mothers employed at the airport. In its initial phase, the facility will accommodate children aged between three months and three years.
The centre will operate daily from 9am to 5pm during its first phase, providing supervised care during standard working hours.
Authorities also confirmed that plans are under consideration to expand the service into a 24-hour daycare facility in the future. This extension is aimed at supporting airport staff working in rotating shifts, ensuring continuous childcare support for employees across all duty timings.
Officials said the initiative is intended to help improve work-life balance and reduce stress for female employees who face challenges in managing childcare responsibilities alongside demanding work schedules.
In addition to the daycare project, the Pakistan Airports Authority has announced plans to introduce electric cart services at major airports across the country, including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Multan.
The service aims to improve passenger mobility within airport premises, allowing travellers to move between parking areas and terminal buildings with greater ease. Passengers will be able to book electric carts through a mobile application once the service is launched.

According to officials, the initiative is expected to particularly benefit elderly passengers and those requiring assistance while navigating large airport terminals. The PAA said both projects are part of its broader modernization and passenger facilitation strategy aimed at improving airport services nationwide.
