Pakistan’s military strongly criticised recent remarks by Indian Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi, calling them dangerous rhetoric that threatened regional peace and stability in South Asia. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the comments reflected a “warmongering mindset” and urged New Delhi to abandon hostility in favour of peaceful coexistence. Moreover, the military warned that irresponsible statements between two nuclear powers could deepen tensions and create serious consequences beyond the region.
The ISPR rejected suggestions questioning Pakistan’s existence, stressing that the country remained an influential state with strategic importance in South Asia and recognised nuclear capability. Furthermore, the military said such remarks exposed India’s continued inability to accept Pakistan’s presence despite more than seven decades of history. It added that aggressive narratives and ideas of national supremacy had repeatedly pushed the region towards instability, conflict and unnecessary military escalations.

According to the statement, threatening to erase a sovereign nuclear state from the map was not strategic communication but reckless behaviour that endangered regional security. The ISPR emphasised that responsible nations should demonstrate maturity, restraint and wisdom instead of using provocative language for political or military messaging. It also warned that any conflict between the neighbouring countries would carry devastating consequences that could spread far beyond geographical borders.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s military urged the Indian leadership to avoid creating another crisis in South Asia and instead focus on diplomatic engagement and peaceful relations. The statement maintained that Pakistan sought stability in the region but remained fully capable of defending its sovereignty against any aggression. Additionally, the ISPR cautioned that attempts to target Pakistan militarily could trigger consequences that would become politically and strategically difficult for India to control.

The military also accused India of contributing to regional instability through disinformation campaigns and alleged support for activities that undermined peace across the region. Referring to last year’s military tensions, which Pakistan described as “Marka-i-Haq,” the ISPR claimed India’s recent aggressive posture reflected frustration over its failure to weaken Pakistan strategically. Consequently, the statement urged Indian authorities to recognise Pakistan’s regional importance and adopt a realistic path based on coexistence and mutual respect.
