Pezeshkian reaffirms Khamenei’s authority over Iran’s key national decisions

Published on: May 24, 2026 6:10 PM

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that no major national decision will move forward without the approval of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, underlining the leadership’s commitment to unity during sensitive diplomatic and regional developments. He stressed that all state matters would continue through coordination and mutual understanding between government institutions and the country’s top leadership.

While addressing the current political climate, Pezeshkian said collective discipline and responsible decision-making remained essential for protecting Iran’s national interests and maintaining internal stability during challenging international circumstances. He also warned that divisive political statements or public disagreements could weaken national unity and indirectly support the objectives of hostile forces seeking instability inside Iran.

Moreover, the Iranian president highlighted the importance of national solidarity at a time when Tehran continues diplomatic engagement with international stakeholders regarding regional security and nuclear-related discussions. He maintained that Iran’s leadership remained focused on safeguarding sovereignty, strengthening state institutions, and preventing political fragmentation that could negatively impact ongoing negotiations and strategic policies.

Pezeshkian further stated that Iran was prepared to assure the international community that the country was not pursuing nuclear weapons, while simultaneously defending its legal rights and national independence. However, he firmly emphasized that Iran’s negotiating team would never compromise on the country’s honour, dignity, or core national principles during any diplomatic process or international agreement.

In addition, the president reiterated that responsible governance required discipline, coordination, and adherence to decisions made through constitutional leadership structures headed by the Supreme Leader. His remarks reflected Tehran’s attempt to project political stability and a unified national position as discussions over regional tensions and international relations continue attracting global attention.

The latest statement comes amid heightened diplomatic activity surrounding Iran’s regional role, security concerns, and negotiations involving Western powers and neighboring countries. Iranian officials continue presenting a message of resilience, unity, and strategic patience while insisting that national sovereignty and leadership authority will remain central to every future policy decision.
