Trump urges Muslim states to join accords

Published on: May 25, 2026 6:21 PM

US President Donald Trump said Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Pakistan should join the Abraham Accords alongside a possible agreement with Iran. Trump said ongoing negotiations with Tehran were progressing positively and could open the door for broader regional diplomacy. He added that Washington seeks a comprehensive agreement to avoid further conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump said either a strong agreement would be reached or no agreement at all. He warned that failure in negotiations could trigger a more severe phase of conflict. According to Trump, no party wants war, which is why the United States continues pursuing diplomatic solutions.

Trump said he held detailed discussions on Saturday with several regional leaders, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Pakistan Army Chief Syed Asim Munir. He said the discussions focused on expanding regional cooperation and peace efforts.

According to Trump, he told the leaders that countries benefiting from US diplomatic efforts should simultaneously join the Abraham Accords. He said the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain had already signed the agreements, while Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt and Jordan should also participate. Trump added that refusing to join could be viewed as a sign of bad faith.

The US president further claimed regional leaders indicated they would welcome Iran into the Abraham Accords if a final agreement is achieved. The accords were first introduced during Trump’s first term in 2020, when several Arab countries established diplomatic relations with Israel.
