Responding to a recent press conference by Farooq Sattar, Memon said the MQM’s political approach has historically centred on slogans, accusations and the creation of political controversies. He argued that the party was attempting to revive its political relevance by criticising the provincial government and questioning ongoing development efforts.

The Sindh minister maintained that Karachi’s development projects were visible on the ground and could not be dismissed through political rhetoric. He said infrastructure and public welfare initiatives undertaken by the provincial government were benefiting residents and contributing to the city’s progress.
Memon also accused the MQM of attempting to create controversy around provincial autonomy, constitutional powers and the local government system. According to him, such issues have repeatedly been used as political tools rather than being addressed through constructive dialogue.
Highlighting Karachi’s importance, the minister said the city belongs to all Pakistanis and serves as the country’s economic hub rather than the political stronghold of any single party. He stressed that development efforts should be viewed in the broader national interest rather than through a partisan lens.
The exchange reflects continuing political differences between the PPP-led Sindh government and MQM-P, particularly over governance, development priorities and administrative matters in Karachi. Both parties have frequently traded criticism regarding the pace of development and the management of municipal affairs in the province’s largest city.

Memon said that constant criticism of development projects amounted to an acknowledgment of political decline by those making such claims. He reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to continuing development initiatives and improving public services across Karachi and other parts of the province.
