Trailer launch of first literary film ‘Vailkor’ held at KPC

Published on: June 5, 2026 3:56 AM

The trailer of Pakistan’s first literary thriller film “Vailkor” was officially launched at a ceremony held at the Karachi Press Club. The trailer was presented with English and Chinese subtitles.

A large number of prominent literary, social, government, and journalistic personalities attended the event. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Siraj-ud-Daulah, Aram Tanveer, Prof. Dr. Jamal Raza, Prof. Dr. Shuaib-ul-Hassan, Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rehman (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), Khalid Hassan Khan, Hasbullah Memon, and others addressed the ceremony.

The speakers said that in the present era, when people of all ages, especially the younger generation, are moving away from books, literary thriller films can play an effective role in reconnecting youth with literature and raising awareness about the importance of books. They added that promoting literary content among the new generation is highly essential.

Director Khalid Hassan Khan, an award-winning Hollywood graduate, has created a unique film on this subject in the context of the modern digital age, which is expected to establish a distinct identity not only in Pakistan but also internationally. The cast of the film includes Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rehman, Shamim Ahmad Sherazi, Talal Furhat, Ayan Ali, and others, while the producers are Imran Sheikh and Syed Evas Ali.

The film was shot at the historic Frere Hall Library in Karachi, which houses a collection of around 70,000 books.
