Lizzo reflects on rainy sports illustrated swimsuit runway show

Published on: June 6, 2026 12:11 PM

Singer and performer Lizzo has opened up about her experience at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show in Miami, describing the event as unpredictable, energetic, and “crazy” due to sudden weather conditions that disrupted the night.

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio, Lizzo recalled how an unexpected downpour turned the runway at the W South Beach into a challenging and slippery surface during Miami Swim Week. She said the rain appeared without warning and quickly changed the atmosphere of the show.

According to Lizzo, the wet conditions made walking the runway difficult for many participants, with several models and guests struggling to maintain their balance. She described the scene as chaotic but said the performers continued with professionalism despite the challenges.

Lizzo, however, said she managed to avoid slipping during her appearance. She noted that while the situation was intense, everyone involved handled it with a positive attitude and kept the show going as planned.

The Grammy-winning artist headlined the event alongside influencer Alix Earle, and said she was impressed by the people she met backstage and on the runway. She praised Earle’s appearance and energy, describing her in enthusiastic terms during the interview.

The show featured a number of well-known personalities, including Bethenny Frankel, Jordan Chiles, Tiffany Haddish, Stassi Schroeder and Brooks Nader, among others, making it one of the more star-studded segments of Miami Swim Week.
