PESCO approves one-month salary bonus for employees

Oman Ministry Of Labour: Oman Implements New Bonus Policy for Private Sector Omani Workers, ETHRWorldEMEA

The Board of Directors of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has approved an annual performance bonus equivalent to one month’s basic salary for its employees for the fiscal year 2025–26, according to an official notification issued on Saturday.

The decision applies to regular, contract, and deputation employees of Peshawar Electric Supply Company. Lump-sum and daily-wage workers will also receive a bonus equal to one month’s initial basic pay, the notification added.

However, the company clarified that only employees who have completed at least six months of service on the payroll will be eligible for the incentive. It also outlined several conditions that could disqualify staff from receiving the bonus.

According to the policy, employees involved in corruption, power theft, or other forms of misconduct will not be entitled to the payment. Similarly, those currently facing investigations by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), or any other inquiry body will be excluded.

The notification further stated that employees who have received major disciplinary penalties during the year will also be ineligible. In addition, officers found responsible for delays in net metering approvals or billing-related connections will not qualify for the bonus.

PESCO also linked performance standards to service delivery, noting that staff who fail to address complaints registered through the 118 Complaint Portal within stipulated timelines will be deprived of the incentive.

The announcement comes amid broader efforts to improve operational efficiency and accountability within Pakistan’s power distribution companies (DISCOs), which have faced longstanding criticism over service delays, technical losses, and customer complaints.

Separately, provincial authorities have recently urged PESCO to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during sensitive periods, including religious observances in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting ongoing pressure on the utility to balance service delivery with system constraints.

The bonus is being viewed as a performance-linked incentive aimed at motivating staff while tightening accountability measures across the organization.
