Published on: June 7, 2026 4:37 PM

Punjab Police has deployed 5,000 personnel, including men and women, to Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure security during the general elections. The force reached the region ahead of polling day and has already taken charge of assigned duties across key constituencies.

According to officials, multiple wings of Punjab Police participated in the deployment, including 1,500 personnel from the RMP wing and 1,242 officers from the Punjab Constabulary. These units were sent to strengthen law and order arrangements during the sensitive election period.

Furthermore, female officers also formed a significant part of the contingent, with 1,958 women from the Punjab Highway Patrol Wing and 300 women from Lahore Police joining the election security operation. Authorities emphasized that gender-inclusive deployment supports better public interaction at polling stations.

Meanwhile, senior police officials arranged transport and logistics under the supervision of the Punjab Inspector General, ensuring smooth movement of personnel to remote areas of Gilgit-Baltistan. The deployment reflects coordinated planning for large-scale election security management.
