Government earmarks Rs 88,000 million for various power sector schemes

The government has allocated an amount of Rs 88,000 million for various power sector projects under the Annual Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2026-27.

According to budget documents released on Friday, an amount of Rs 83,823.036 million has been earmarked for 45 ongoing schemes, while Rs 4,176.964 million has been allocated for three new projects.

Among the ongoing schemes, an amount of Rs 10,233.119 million allocated for Installation of Reactive Power Compensation devices (STATCOM) in NTDC Network ADB, WB & ISDB, Rs 5,828.513 million for Evacuation of power from 2160 MW DASU HPP Stage-I World Bank 9076-PK, Rs 5,113.510 for 500 KV HVDC Transmission System between Tajikistan and Pakistan for Central Asia-South Asia Transmission Interconnection (CASA-1000) World Bank IDA5409, Rs 4,382.868 for 765/500/220/132 KV Islamabad West Grid Station World Bank NTMP-I, Rs 3,900 million for Evacuation of Power from 816 MW Mohmand Dam ADB PTSP 250 M$.

Similarly, Rs 3,500 million for Upgradation/ Extension of NTDC’s Telecommunication & SCADA System at NPCC ADB MFF-II T-I, Rs 3,189.462 for Electricity Distribution Efficiency Improvement Project under World Bank (MEPCO), Rs 2,910.330 million for Power Distribution Strengthening Project (SEPCO) ADB, Rs 2,608.061 million for 500 KV Double Circuit Transmission Line from Ghazi Brotha to Faisalabad West ADB.

Under the new schemes, Rs 3,027.286 million allocated for BESS for Frequency Regulation, Rs 599.515 million for Supply for Three Phase AMI meters under ADB Power Distribution Strengthening Project-II (LESCO), Rs 550.163 million for Capacity Building for Preparation and Implementation of the Boosting Energy Security through Transmission in Pakistan (BESTPAK) Program.

Rs 311.8 million allocated for Petroleum Division

The government has allocated Rs 311.800 million for the Petroleum Division under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2026-27.

According to budget documents issued on Friday, the funds have been earmarked for an initiative titled “Accelerated Geological Mapping and Mineral Exploration Using Modern Satellite Imaging-Based Technologies for Unmapped Areas in Pakistan.”

Rs 16,394.7 million for Housing & Works Division

The Federal Government has allocated a total amount of Rs 16,394.700 million for the ongoing and new schemes of Housing and Works Division for the fiscal year 2026-27 under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

According to the budget document issued here on Friday, the allocation includes Rs 15,094.700 million for twenty four ongoing projects and 1,300.000 million for three new development schemes.

The three new development schemes included Construction of National Iqbal Library, and 150th Anniversary Monument, Construction of IB office Swat and Construction of IB office Mithi.

Rs 11.570 billion earmarked for Revenue Division projects in PSDP 2026-27

The federal government will spend around Rs. 11.570 billion on 04 ongoing projects of the Revenue Division under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) during the upcoming financial year 2026-27. According to a budget document released on Friday, an amount of Rs 5.750 billion has earmarked for the Construction of Customs Digital Enforcement Station by FBR along River Indus, Hub and in Balochistan.

The government has allocated Rs. 3.500 billion for the Investment Project Financing (IPF) Component of Pakistan Raises Revenue Project (2nd Revised).

Rs.2 billion has earmarked for Development of Integrated Transit Trade Management System (ITTMS), Under ADB’s Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation-Regional Improving Border Service (CAREC-RIBS) Program and Rs 500 million for construction of Model Custom Collectorate Gwadar.
