Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has said that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts helped prevent a potential global conflict and that the role played by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir goes beyond what a Nobel Peace Prize represents.
Speaking to the media at Parliament House, Rana Sanaullah said that the Iran-US agreement has created hope for peace and stability in the region. He added that efforts aimed at preventing a wider conflict were crucial and that Pakistan’s leadership played an important role in facilitating dialogue and reducing tensions.
When asked whether Pakistan deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for its mediation efforts, Rana Sanaullah said it was up to the Nobel Committee to decide. However, he maintained that the contributions made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir were “above and beyond” the level of recognition associated with the Nobel Peace Prize.
He said that an end to hostilities would bring greater regional stability and benefit the global economy. According to him, the easing of sanctions on Iran could help advance regional energy projects, while the revival of the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project could contribute to addressing Pakistan’s energy challenges and potentially lower fuel and gas costs.
Rana Sanaullah also said that the federal government would fully support the upcoming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and ensure that they are conducted in a free and fair manner. He emphasized that political issues are best resolved through dialogue and noted that the government remains open to talks with the opposition. He further described reports of changes in the federal cabinet as speculation, saying no decision has been made so far.
