Fish exports rise 4.18% to $445.24m in 11 months

The exports of fish and fish preparations from the country witnessed an increase of 4.18 percent during the first eleven months of the current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period of last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.

The country earned $445.247 million from exports of fish and fish preparations during July-May (2025-26) as against $427.371 million during July-May (2024-25), showing a growth of 4.18 percent, according to PBS data. In terms of quantity, the exports of fish and fish preparations also increased by 0.18 percent, rising from 198,712 metric tons last year to 199,064 metric tons during the period under review.

On a year-on-year basis, seafood exports, however, declined by 8.18 percent to $51.860 million in May 2026 as compared to exports of $56.480 million recorded in May 2025.

In terms of quantity, the exports also fell by 12.71 percent, going down from 26,826 metric tons in May 2025 to 23,417 metric tons in May 2026.

On a month-on-month basis, the exports of fish and fish preparations increased by 1.39 percent in dollar terms in May 2026 when compared to exports of $51.149 million in April 2026, the PBS data revealed.

In terms of quantity, the exports posted a decline of 0.83 percent on a month-on-month basis, easing from 23,614 metric tons in April 2026 to 23,417 metric tons in May 2026.
